Everyday care

A good day, thoughtfully planned.

Make a little room for everything: walks, short training sessions, meals and quiet time. Arrange a day that fits your dog.

Unscheduled time is room for rest, enrichment and your usual routine. It is not a measurement of sleep. Adapt activity to your dog’s age, health and comfort.

How to use this tool

  1. Choose the start of the day and the start of the night rest window.
  2. Enter the walks, training sessions and meal breaks you have chosen, including each duration.
  3. Update the plan and check the complete timetable and 24-hour chart. Adjust inputs if activities do not fit, then download or copy the schedule.

A day that leaves room for being a dog

Choose the start and end of your day, then add the walks, training sessions and meal breaks you want to make room for. The planner spaces those activities through the available window and shows the time that remains unscheduled.

The starting values are an editable example. The planner does not choose a medically appropriate exercise duration, sleep requirement or training workload from your dog’s breed or weight.

What the chart shows

These five parts always total 24 hours. “Night rest window” and “unscheduled time” describe your schedule; they do not measure how many hours your dog actually sleeps.

Make the plan fit real life

Can I plan a day that crosses midnight?

Yes. A day starting at 22:00 and ending at 07:00 is treated as a nine-hour daytime window followed by the rest of the 24-hour cycle. The export includes elapsed-minute offsets so the order remains clear across midnight.

What happens if everything does not fit?

The planner asks you to change the durations or the available window. It does not silently shorten walks, discard sessions or overlap activities to produce a result.

How should I choose activity durations?

Use your dog’s established routine and individual advice from your veterinary or training professional. Puppies, dogs recovering from an injury, seniors and dogs with health conditions can need different arrangements.

Can I set a week of meals alongside it?

Use the meal planner for portions, then download this routine as a separate timetable. The two tools separate energy calculations from the way you arrange your day.

Can I change the suggested times?

Export the timetable to CSV and adjust it in your spreadsheet or calendar. The calculator spaces the blocks evenly; your household schedule can supply the final times.

Know when a schedule is not the next step

If your pet is struggling to breathe, collapses or shows other urgent signs, seek veterinary help rather than rearranging a routine. AAHA’s emergency guide explains when urgent care may be needed.
